Naturopathy
WHAT IS A NATUROPATH?
Naturopaths are experts in natural medicine that focus on restoring balance to whole health and wellbeing. A naturopath will provide a health plan that is evidence-based, safe, and personalised. Your practitioner can also work alongside your preferred medical doctor or other allied health professional if required.
Even though modern naturopathy encourages practitioners to specialise in certain health conditions all naturopaths are trained to balance all bodily systems and can support you in any area of your health or wellness.
HOW CAN A NATUROPATH HELP?
A naturopath is able to prevent and relieve the symptoms of disease, plus promote optimal health and wellbeing, by treating the whole person and the root causes of disease.
WHAT CAN A NATUROPATH TREAT?
A Naturopath has a holistic and preventative approach to treating common health conditions including:
- Baby & Kids – autism, ADHD, immunity, behavioural or mood imbalances
- Cardiovascular – blood pressure or cholesterol imbalances
- Digestive & Detox – IBS, SIBO, detoxification & parasitic infection, food intolerances/sensitivities
- Hormones – thyroid disorders, PMS, PCOS, endometriosis
- Immunity – colds & flu, allergies/intolerances, autoimmune disorders, vaccination support
- Environmental Health – mould toxicity, CIRS, Lyme
- Musculoskeletal – osteoporosis, arthritis, sports injuries
- Pain & Inflammation – headache, migraine, inflammatory conditions
- Pregnancy – preconception, fertility, miscarriage prevention, postpartum support
- Skin & Beauty – acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea
- Stress & Energy – anxiety, depression, insomnia, addiction, adrenal fatigue syndrome
- Weight Management – weight loss/gain, body composition, blood sugar imbalances
- Wellness & Ageing
WHAT TO EXPECT?
In your online consultation (run via Zoom) your naturopath will aim to get an in-depth understanding of all factors that may be contributing to your overall health – physical, emotional, environmental, genetic, and social.
Your naturopath will then create a personalised health plan containing diet & lifestyle advice, plus a prescription for clinical strength natural medicines (nutritional & herbal) that are indicated to balance your health concerns. They may also recommend functional testing to help identify subclinical illness, nutritional imbalances, and analyse organ function.
Depending on your current health state, we generally recommend returning every 2-4 weeks to monitor your progress and adjust your health plan to ensure you succeed at achieving your health goals.

Frequently asked questions
1. do you offer free advice?
Absolutely! Times are tough and sometimes your just needing some quick advice. We are more than happy to support you with general advice with our online wellness review form available on our contact us page here. Simply answer some general health questions and we will come back to you with our recommendation based on your personal health goals via email as soon as possible.
2. WHICH PRACTITIONER IS THE BEST FIT FOR ME?
The best way to choose which practitioner to work with is to ask yourself what your primary health concern is. If you are suffering from digestive issues then your best to choose a practitioner that specializes in gut health. Or if your primary health concern is PMS symptoms then your best to choose a practitioner that specializes in hormonal imbalances.
If you are still unsure… find a practitioner based on your health goals here.
3. NATUROPATH, NUTRITIONIST, HERBALIST – WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?
4. CAN YOUR PRACTITIONERS WRITE PRESCRIPTIONS?
5. ARE YOUR PRACTITIONERS COVERED BY INSURANCE?
6. WHAT TYPES OF PRACTITIONERS OFFER PRIVATE HEALTH REBATES?
Unfortunately as of 1st of April 2019, private health care rebates were made no longer available for naturopathic treatments. The changes, at the time were supported by the Australian Medical Association, the Department of Health, and Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt.
We hope this changes in the future, however at this stage only nutritionists and dietitian’s can offer private health care rebates through a select number of health funds including NIB (AAMI, Suncorp, Qantas Health Insurance & APIA), Australian Health Management, AHM, Australian Unity, CUA, GU Health, HBF, Health.com.au, LaTrobe Health Services, Medibank Private, Mildura District Health Fund (MDHF), Phoenix Health Fund, Police Health, Queensland Country Health, St Lukes Health, and Westfund – as of July 2021. Always check your private health policy and/or speak to your private health care provider for the most accurate information. Your practitioner must also be registered for health care rebates, so please refer to each individual profile for details, or alternatively raise the question in your complimentary consultation.
7. WHAT TYPES OF PRACTITIONERS CAN ORDER FUNCTIONAL TESTING?
8. WHAT ARE THE CLINIC HOURS?
9. IS SEEING A NATUROPATH WORTH IT?
10. HOW QUALIFIED ARE NATURAL HEALTH PRACTITIONERS?
A natural health practitioner has typically spent at least 2 years of full time study in their chosen modality, like naturopathy or nutrition. A Bachelor of Health Science takes a minimum of 4 years and an Advanced Diploma takes 2 years per modality of full time study to complete. In addition to the foundational qualifications, professional associations also require registered practitioners continue to educate themselves to maintain and update skills in specialised areas of natural health.
11. Where are you located?
Our office is located in Brisbane, however, we are 100% online so our practitioners are based across Australia.
