WHAT IS A NATUROPATH?

Naturopaths are experts in natural medicine that focus on restoring balance to whole health and wellbeing. A naturopath will provide a health plan that is evidence-based, safe, and personalised. Your practitioner can also work alongside your preferred medical doctor or other allied health professional if required.

Even though modern naturopathy encourages practitioners to specialise in certain health conditions all naturopaths are trained to balance all bodily systems and can support you in any area of your health or wellness.

HOW CAN A NATUROPATH HELP?

A naturopath is able to prevent and relieve the symptoms of disease, plus promote optimal health and wellbeing, by treating the whole person and the root causes of disease.

Common reasons our clients seek the help of a naturopath include:

  • Metabolic health – weight & diabetes management, heart health
  • Mood imbalances – anxiety, depression, chronic fatigue, insomnia
  • Gut health – IBS, SIBO, detoxification & parasitic infection
  • Hormonal imbalances – thyroid disorders, PMS, PCOS, endometriosis
  • Skin health – acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea
  • Immunity – autoimmune disorders, colds & flu, allergies/intolerances
  • Pregnancy – preconception, fertility, miscarriage prevention & postpartum support
  • Children’s health – autism, ADHD, immunity, behavioural or mood imbalances
  • General health – overall health & wellness

WHAT TO EXPECT?

In your online consultation (run via Zoom) your naturopath will aim to get an in-depth understanding of all factors that may be contributing to your overall health – physical, emotional, environmental, genetic, and social.

Your naturopath will then create a personalised health plan containing diet & lifestyle advice, plus a prescription for clinical strength natural medicines (nutritional & herbal) that are required to treat your health concerns. They may also recommend functional testing to help identify subclinical illness, nutritional imbalances, and analyse organ function.

Depending on your current health state, we generally recommend returning every 2-4 weeks to monitor your progress and adjust your health plan to ensure you succeed at achieving your health goals.

Herbal Medicine

WHAT IS A herbalist?

Herbalists are trained in the ancient art of herbal medicine that focuses on restoring balance to whole health, rather than just the symptoms. A herbalist will provide a health plan that is evidence-based, however at times pulls on traditional methods of prescribing that has been used for thousands of years. Your practitioner can also work alongside your preferred medical doctor or other allied health professional if required.

Even though modern western herbal medicine encourages practitioners to specialise in certain health conditions all herbalists are trained to balance all bodily systems and can support you in any area of your health or wellness.

Frequently asked questions

1. do you offer free advice?
Absolutely. We are more than happy to support you with general advice with our complimentary consultation. Simply choose your practitioner and book a suitable time to meet over Zoom.
2. WHICH PRACTITIONER IS THE BEST FIT FOR ME?
The best way to choose which practitioner to work with is to ask yourself what your primary health concern is. If you are suffering from digestive issues then your best to choose a practitioner that specializes in gut health. Or if your primary health concern is PMS symptoms then your best to choose a practitioner that specializes in hormonal imbalances. If you are still unsure… our Founder, Helaina, will be happy to help you out in a complimentary consult!
3. NATUROPATH, NUTRITIONIST, HERBALIST – WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?
All of our practitioners are qualified in natural medicine. The main difference is what they can prescribe. A naturopath is qualified to prescribe nutritional, herbal and lifestyle advice. A nutritionist is qualified to prescribe nutritional and lifestyle advice. A herbalist is qualified to prescribe herbal medicine and lifestyle advice. If you are looking for meal plans, dietary or weight management advice then a nutritionist is best fitted for you as they are given more extensive training in this area compared to a naturopath, unless they have completed additional education in that area.
4. CAN YOUR PRACTITIONERS WRITE PRESCRIPTIONS?
Yes. All our practitioners can write prescriptions for practitioner-only products and can provide you access to our online dispensary shop.
5. ARE YOUR PRACTITIONERS COVERED BY INSURANCE?
Absolutely. All our practitioners are highly qualified to provide you with the best professional advice, prescribe products, and support you with a personalized treatment plan. They are all required to maintain membership with professional associations within their chosen modality which ensures they continue to provide you with the highest level of care required by law in Australia. This also includes holding relevant individual business insurances.
6. WHAT TYPES OF PRACTITIONERS OFFER PRIVATE HEALTH REBATES?
Unfortunately as of 1st of April 2019, private health care rebates were made no longer available for naturopathic treatments. The changes, at the time were supported by the Australian Medical Association, the Department of Health, and Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt.

We hope this changes in the future, however at this stage only nutritionists can offer private health care rebates through a select number of health funds including NIB (AAMI, Suncorp, Qantas Health Insurance & APIA), Australian Health Management, AHM, Australian Unity, CUA, GU Health, HBF, Health.com.au, LaTrobe Health Services, Medibank Private, Mildura District Health Fund (MDHF), Phoenix Health Fund, Police Health, Queensland Country Health, St Lukes Health, and Westfund – as of July 2021. Always check your private health policy and/or speak to your private health care provider for the most accurate information. Your practitioner must also be registered for health care rebates, so please refer to each individual profile for details, or alternatively raise the question in your complimentary consultation.

7. WHAT TYPES OF PRACTITIONERS CAN ORDER FUNCTIONAL TESTING?
Both naturopaths and nutritionists are qualified to prescribe functional testing. They are trained to identify and investigate the cause of health imbalances which is accomplished during questioning and testing. However, your practitioner will always determine whether functional testing is appropriate in your individual situation.
8. WHAT ARE THE CLINIC HOURS?
Our online clinic is currently open Monday to Thursday 9 am-9 pm, Friday 9 am-7 pm, Saturday 9 am-5 pm, and closed Sunday.
9. IS SEEING A NATUROPATH WORTH IT?
We definitely believe so. There is so much to gain from seeking help from a naturopath. Many clients have reported feeling very safe, understood, and supported. A naturopath is very different from seeing a doctor as they spend extra time to understand your health history so they can create a personalized treatment plan. They are in the business of preventing disease and treating the root cause, however, they will also address any uncomfortable symptoms you present with. A lot of focus is also put into education and keeping you accountable for making healthy lifestyle choices. Prioritizing your health is one of the most important investments you will ever make!
10. Where are you located?

Our office is located in Brisbane, however, we are 100% online so our practitioners are based across Australia.
